
Seiichi Koshimizujoined Suntory in 1973. His main duties after entering the company included research on whiskey storage/aging and managing quality control at the Yamazaki Distillery. In 1991 he became the manager of the Blending Section, followed by his appointment to the position of senior blender in 1996 and chief blender in 1999. In 2008, his Suntory Whisky Hibiki won in the category of World’s Best Blended Whisky in the World’s World Whiskies Awards; thus joining an elite group of six people that includes senior blender Fujii. Working drop by drop with hundreds of whiskeys to get the ideal blend, Koshimizu is known as the “conductor of taste and smell” and as a person who never compromises on flavor and quality. He has often been featured in the media, including his appearance on the NHK TV program “Professional.”
