We have been reporting the updates of the "iQ GAZOO version" production.
In fact, we heard the rumor saying that we could even test drive the GAZOO version!
As the GAZOO editor team progressed in investigatation, they reached "Toyota Metapolis"!
What is "Toyota Metapolis"?
"Toyota Metapolis" is the 3D virtual city where users can experience the new type of car life. Using an avatar called "My Character", the user can enjoy a futuristic car life in the way he/she likes.
Virtual cars are the best part of Toyota Metapolis. The real-life models have been created using 3D modeling, showing quite impressive performance. The user can drive the virtual car on highways in Toyota Metapolis, change lanes, chat with fellow passengers, and even listen to BGM. He/she can feel the thrill of driving as good as the reality.
The GAZOO editor team had been looking all over for the GAZOO version in Toyota Metapolis.
Finally one day while taking a walk in the city, there it was; we found the GAZOO version!
It was true that the "fully-seasoned" GAZOO version existed in this 3D city although our editor team hadn't yet seen the actual car.
Just as the rumor said, we could even test-drive the car in Toyota Metapolis! The views looked from the inside felt very real.
The GAZOO version, however, was only available as the special vehicle and distributed in "Live Talk feat. iQ", the virtual party held on October 15, 2008. Currently, it is no longer available, but we look forward to its public release!
iQ Introduction Event
The iQ GAZOO version was introduced in the virtual party, "Live Talk feat. iQ".
In this party, Akio Toyoda, Executive Vice President of Toyota Motor Corporation and Simon, the designer of iQ and Nakashima in charge of its development participated as special guests where they all introduced the features of iQ!
The introduction was followed by the Q&A session where Toyoda EVP and other guests answered the questions asked by the participants. The comments of those participants include: "Its fuel efficiency matches with the needs of today,"; "I can't wait to test-drive it,"; "It looks so tiny and cute."
